Chincoteague Island Wildlife

Finally going to start painting again. It has been over one month. This is an oil that I have started of the marshes of the Eastern Shore of Virginiamarsh I will be concentrating on painting wildlife for the next month, in preparation of an exhibit for late November on Chincoteague Island. I was on Chincoteague in September for the Plein Air event and painted all week on location in various areas of the island. The exhibit at the end of the week was quite profitable for me, as I sold five out eight paintings I painted. I had a wonderful time, and survived a noreaster in September. Quite a change in weather from the Caribbean!

Oil Painting by Nancy Hogan Armour

This oil is now done, I finished it in one more session, since the past post . Today I will work on some more I have started. I believe I have shortened his legs a little. This painting is 12×24 inches and will be mailed to a gallery on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, that represents my art work. I have 2 others that will be sent this week also. Currently I am working on a Chincoteague  pony, that is soon to be finished.

Painting in progress day 2

Painting in progress day 2This is day two of an oil of a shorebird on the beach of Assateague Island. It is always good for me to see the painting on a screen instead of looking at it on an easel. You can see the flaws much easier. Using a mirror also helps. I have no idea why this works, but I can definitely see more errors in my paintings using this method. So now I will go paint, as I see his legs are looking too long!!
